Understand the principle before the equipment
Heating and cooling equipment is rated by how much heat it can add or remove over time. In residential HVAC, Btu per hour is the basic capacity unit, while cooling equipment is also commonly described in tons.
One ton of nominal cooling capacity corresponds to 12,000 Btu/h, but actual delivered capacity depends on operating conditions and the specific matched equipment.
Capacity should be compared with the building load. More capacity is not automatically better.
