Understand the principle before the equipment
HVAC systems do not make heat disappear. They move heat from one place to another or convert fuel/electrical energy into heat that is then transferred to the building.
Conduction moves heat through materials, convection transfers heat through moving fluids such as air, and phase change allows refrigerant to absorb or reject large amounts of heat.
Building insulation, heat exchangers, evaporator coils and condensers all rely on these same physical principles.
