Understand the principle before the equipment
Superheat and subcooling describe how far refrigerant temperature is above or below its saturation temperature at a measured pressure.
Superheat is associated with vapor that has been heated above its boiling/saturation temperature. Subcooling is associated with liquid that has been cooled below its condensing/saturation temperature.
These values help technicians understand refrigerant conditions, but they must be interpreted with equipment type, metering device, indoor/outdoor conditions, airflow and manufacturer charging procedures.
