Make the decision based on the complete system
Ductless mini-splits connect one or more indoor units to outdoor heat-pump equipment without conventional central supply and return ductwork.
They can be useful where extending ducts is impractical, where individual zones need control or where a home with hydronic/baseboard heat needs cooling.
Whole-home ductless design still requires load-based sizing, thoughtful indoor-unit placement, condensate drainage, electrical work and cold-weather performance review.
