Maintenance supports reliable system operation
The outdoor unit must move a large volume of air through its coil to reject heat during cooling. Heat pumps also use the outdoor coil to absorb heat during heating.
Leaves, vegetation, fencing and stored objects can interfere with airflow. Physical coil damage can also reduce effective heat-transfer area.
Aggressive cleaning can damage delicate fins or electrical components, so maintenance should be appropriate to the equipment and coil condition.
